Injury Time

Chelsea will be without Ballack, the german international team captain suffered a calf injury during a recent qualifier.

Manchester United will be without leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney, giving way for the oft-maligned Michael Owen to make his second league start this season.

The club hardest hit by the injury wagon is Liverpool, losing Both Gerrard(groin)and Torres(groin) during the international break.

And now the most humorous "injury" is that incurred by midfielder Wilson Palacios, being forced by the military junta of Honduras to celebrate the countries first appearance in the world cup since 1982.

Matchweek 9 Chelsea vs. Aston Villa

The international break is finally over and it is time to get back into domestic action. League toppers Chelsea take on Aston Villa, who have accrued 13 points in seven games played, at Villa Park this week. Here are the projected is the projected lineup for Chelsea.

Cech
Bosingwa Carvalho Terry A. Cole

Essien

Malouda Lampard Deco

Anelka
Drogba

Ballack will get the nod over Deco to deal with the size of Aston Villa during set pieces.

Prediction: Anelka has regained his form of last season after a slow start this year and Drogba continued his goal scoring frenzy with Ivory Coast. Although Lampard has not found the back of the net since the first game of the season, he has controlled the midfield. The back four is standard, Ivanovic showed real class against Liverpool with very adroit tackles,as well as crosses when he came forward.
Aston Villa 1 Chelsea 2
Goals Chelsea: Anelka Lampard
Goal Aston Villa: Carew

Two New Signings

Possibly due to the FA two window transfer ban on Chelsea, which is still under review, Chelsea have acquired many signings from existing players.

Alex, "the tank", penned a four year deal. The Brazilian has yet to play this season due to a groin injury, but is set to return soon.

That came just after Salomon Kalou penned a 3 year deal with Ancelloti's squad. The 24 year old just qualified with his national team, Ivory Coast, on the back of a 1-1 Malawi Draw thanks to Drogba goal in the latter stages of the game.

International Break: Drogba is on fire!

Everyone remembers the Ivory Coast as the country that signed a cease-fire during the 2006 World Cup. Well, they are back, only the second African team to qualify, thanks to Drogba's 65th minute goal to grab a point from Malawi. Drogba has 6 assists and the same number of goals in the premier league as well He inevitably would have made an impact on the champions league as well, if he wasn't busy serving time on the sideline with teammate Bosingwa after there "questioning" of the referee in the Champions league semifinal draw against Barcelona. Drogba is on fire!

International Break: Portuguese National team

The Portuguese national team is in extreme danger of not qualifying for the world cup, and as the world ponders a world cup sans Ronaldo speculations portugal crosses their fingers in hopes of a miscue from the Swedish team led by Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Portugal will have to win out to have a chance to clinch a spot in the world cup and a few players from Chelsea.
Deco is coming off a calf injury and a lackluster performance against Liverpool the midfielder is a tactician and should work well in the midfield next to Ronaldo.
Three of Portugal's back four are comprised of Chelsea players. Carvalho, Jose Bosingwa and Ferreira- who recently had his first cap of the season for Chelsea against QPR in the Chelsea Carling Cup victory.
